Lynchburg, VA - "Unfortunately there are some who live on the streets who are out in the weather throughout the night, whether it be in a tent or in a place without heat" said Captain Donald Dohmann of the Lynchburg Salvation Army.
This year like so many others, the Salvation Army will be collecting coats to give to the needy this winter.
So far, in just the past few weeks, the Lynchburg area Salvation Army has given almost 400 coats to help curb the cold.
With temperatures dropping this week that need is growing.
There are collection points at Burlington Coat Factory on Wards Road in Lynchburg, you can buy one at the store, or drop off one of your own. You can also drop them off at the Salvation Army headquarters on Park Avenue, or any of the city's three YMCA's.
The greatest need is for children's, and extra-large coats; hats and gloves are also being accepted.
