Salvation Army Plans to Feed Hundreds Thanksgiving Meal
Danville, VA -- Staff at the Salvation Army in Danville were up early Wednesday morning getting ready for their 19th annual Thanksgiving meal.
Last year they had 275 people, but they are expecting to have more than that this year. Families do not have to sign up, they can just show up at 11 a.m. Thursday.
The staff says they have had a steady flow of donations today, and would not be able to put the meal together if it was not for the support from the community.
"The public always comes through for us," kitchen manager David Terrell said. "Without the public and without the volunteers, the Salvation Army couldn't do half of what it does."
To make sure they have enough space for everyone, they have moved the meal to the Salvation Army gym.
