Salem Rips Hillcats 12-3

Lynchburg - Salem broke up a 2-1 game at Lynchburg, scoring seven runs in the fourth inning en route to a 12-3 romp over the Hillcats.

The Red Sox scored 12 unanswered runs between the second and sixth innings, banging out 15 hits on the night. Kevin Heller's two-run homer in the second gave Salem a lead it would never relinquish, Heller finished the game with a 2-run homer, double and four rbi's. Mario Martinez went 4-for-4 with two doubles, three runs and an rbi for Salem.

David Nick and Daniel Carroll each hit solo home runs for the Hillcats, but Lynchburg could never recover from Salem's 7-run fourth inning.

Nick went 3-for-4 with his homer, Martinez 2-for-4. Justin Bloxom recorded two hits, including a triple. Blake Brown scored the Hillcats' run in the ninth after drawing a walk and scoring on a pinch-hit single by Tyler Tewell.

Lynchburg will try to avoid being swept three straight in Thursday night's series finale starting at 7:05.
