Salem Police Arrest Robbery Suspect

Salem, VA - Salem police have arrested man suspected of robbing a Salem business on Tuesday.

According to police, they responded to a call around 9 pm on Chestnut Street.{} When the first officer arrived on scene, the victim was able to give police a description of the suspect as well as the suspect's vehicle.

Officers who were patrolling in the area quickly located the suspect's car.{} They arrested and charged 21 year old Exavior Deopalis McCarthy with one count of armed robbery and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Salem police also recovered a BB gun, clothing, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash from the car.

McCarthy is currently being held at the Roanoke County/Salem Jail without bond.
