Salem, VA - A section of Riverside Drive in Salem closed Thursday so crews could work on a bridge project postponed a few times.
The 86-foot section of a pedestrian bridge is part of the greenway along the Roanoke River where 12 o'clock Knob Road hits West Riverside Drive.
A final 42-foot section will be added later in the month.
The road is open to normal traffic at this hour. Once finished, the Salem Section of the Roanoke River Greenway will extend more than three complete miles from Rotary Park to Green Hill Park.
