Salem Beats Lynchburg 6-4, Hillcats' 9th-Straight Loss

Lynchburg - Salem scored in just two innings, but each time the Red Sox got three, including the go-ahead runs in the 8th as they handed Lynchburg a 6-4 loss at Calvin Falwell Field.It's the Hillcats' ninth-straight loss, they drop to 9-and-15 for the season, Salem improves to 15-and-10.Lynchburg led 2-0 after three innings, but Salem put together three runs on three hits in the fourth to grab its first lead. Jonathan Roof had a leadoff double and Kevin Heller a two-out, two-run double. Aneury Tavarez contributed the other RBI on a two-out single.The Hillcats bounced back to take the lead in the sixth with two runs, Will Skinner and Daniel Castro delivered rbi doubles.But Salem won it with three runs in the 8th, Reed Gragnani and Tavarez had rbi singles and the Red Sox got their final run on a bases-loaded walk.Game two of the series is Friday night, 6:05 in Lynchburg.
