S.A.F.E. Strides for Virginia 10 Miler

Lynchburg, VA -{}How many times have you told yourself you'd finally try the Virginia 10 Miler, but backed out because you didn't think you could prepare?

It doesn't have to happen this year. The folks at Areva have worked with Riverside Runners to create S.A.F.E. Strides.

It's a 10-week group training plan aimed at preventing injuries and preparing for the run. Groups will meet at both the Jamerson and Downtown YMCA in Lynchburg.

They'll focus on things like nutrition, stretching -- even the mechanics of the run.

"We're hoping that, not only will they be prepared for the race that they're planning to run, but they will continue to be runners in the future," said Safe Strides Director Daniel Boyers.

The first class is this Thursday, but they'll keep registration open for a week.

The cost is $35.
