Rustburg Woman Dies in NC Accident, Husband & Children Recover in Hospital
Rustburg, VA - A Rustburg woman is dead and her family is recovering in the hospital after a tractor trailer plowed into their car head-on on a trip home from Myrtle Beach Tuesday.
According to the victim's sister, a Jeep was transporting Holly Johnson, 26, her husband, two children and a relative.
Police say the family was driving near Rockingham, North Carolina, when a tractor trailer driver ran a stop sign and collided with them.
Police say Johnson was pronounced dead on the scene. Her husband, two children, and the other passenger from Concord are all being treated for severe injuries in two North Carolina hospitals.
Rockingham police say the driver of the tractor trailer, Garland Newcomb, has been charged with misdemeanor death by a vehicle, as well as careless and reckless driving.
