Rustburg Hires Jack Baker as New Football Coach

Rustburg, Va - Rustburg High School has hired Jack Baker as their Head Football Coach for the 2013-2014 season. Baker has been the Head Football Coach at Alleghany High School in Covington, leading them three times to the Region III playoffs during his tenure. Before coaching at AHS Coach Baker spent 5 years as an Assistant Football Coach at his alumni, Virginia Military Institute. After graduating from James River High School, Baker played for the Keydets then returned to James River HS as an Assistant Coach for one year before taking the assistant coaching position at VMI. Baker will have a teaching position at RHS for the upcoming school year.

- Coach has 17 years of football coaching knowledge including experience at both the high school and college level.
- In addition, he has coached every position on the field including serving as an offensive, defensive and special teams coordinator.
- He took a program at Allegheny that hadn't made the playoffs for 25 years (and hadn't had a winning record in 5 years) and built them into a contender in the Blue Ridge District and Region III.
- Coach Baker's Father was a long time head football coach at James River HS, Drewry Mason, and Bath County and also assisted at Alleghany and Bridgewater College. He also served as an assistant principal and athletic director during his career.
