Rocky Mount Man Charged With Making a Bomb Threat to Carilion in Boones Mill
Boones Mill, VA - There were some tense moments Monday morning for patients and employees at the Carilion Clinic Family and Internal Medicine practice in Franklin County Wednesday Morning.
Someone from inside the building called Franklin County Sherriff's Department around 10:16 a.m., saying that a person had threatened to "blow the clinic up."
Deputies immediately responded to the clinic to provide security to the clinic, and to patients and employees. No incidents occurred at the clinic.
Adam Leon Mullins, 25, of Rocky Mount was taken into custody within an hour and charged with making and communicating to the clinic a threat to "bomb, burn, destroy, or damage a building or structure," according to Lieutenant Todd Maxey with the sheriff's department.
Police say he was upset about an appointment.
Mullins was held on a $5000 unsecured bond.
