Lynchburg, VA - Republican Congressman Robert Hurt kicked off his re-election campaign on Monday. He stopped in several areas including Danville, Charlottesville and Lynchburg.
Hurt represents the 5th Congressional District, which covers an area from Pittsylvania County up to Albemarle County.
"We stopped in Lynchburg because of course I represent Campbell and Bedford and as many people in Campbell and Bedford work in Lynchburg and go to school here as probably live in the city so it's a great center for us," said Hurt.
Democrat Peyton Williams dropped out of the race this weekend. That leaves John Douglass as the presumptive challenger against Hurt.
