Danville, VA - Fifth District Congressman Robert Hurt made a stop in Danville Tuesday to tour the Danville Community College Machine Shop.
After the tour, he answered questions about his campaign and a recent bill he has introduced. Hurt says being an incumbent helps him in his campaign because people know his name and his policies.
Last week, Hurt introduced The No-Taxpayer Funded Lobbying Act. He says this bill would close the loopholes in using taxpayer money for lobbying activities.
"We need to be looking at ways to reduce spending in Washington and providing grants, however well meaning, providing grants to groups to lobby governments I just don't think is appropriate," he said.
Representatives from the Douglass campaign say Hurt should be taking action to ban uranium mining instead.
