Roanoke Police Searching for Suspect in Fatal Hit and Run

Update: 2:00 p.m.:

Roanoke Police have identified the victim in Saturday's hit and run as Sandra Nadine Loughry, 45, of Roanoke.


Roanoke, VA- Roanoke Police need your help to track down a suspect in a fatal hit and run accident. Police say early Saturday morning around 1:45 officers were called out to the 3,000 block of Shenandoah Ave Northwest.

When they arrived on the scene they found an unresponsive woman. Responding medics declared her dead. Her name has not yet been released.

Investigators say the woman and a friend were walking on Shenandoah Avenue when a vehicle hit her from behind. Police say the vehicle fled the scene and has not been located. Traffic was closed on Shenandoah Avenue for the remainder of the night while Investigators processed the scene. Investigators are reviewing evidence at the scene and working with the witness to identify the driver of the vehicle.
