Roanoke Police Release Name of Pedestrian Killed Friday

Roanoke, VA. - Roanoke Police have identified the pedestrian that was hit and killed Friday on Franklin Road.

According to Roanoke Police Spokesperson Scott Leamon, Ruth Mary Keniston, 63, Roanoke, was killed.

The incident is still under investigation, Leamon said, and no charges have been filed against driver at this time.

Roanoke Police said the accident happened around 6:07 p.m. in the 3000 block of Franklin Road in South Roanoke.

Police closed the south bound of Franklin Road up to 581, near the restaurant Montanos.

The identity of the person driving the involved vehicle remains unknown.

Roanoke Police do not believe alcohol or speed was a factor.
