Roanoke Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting


Roanoke, VA - Officers from the Roanoke Police Department say Carlton Alexander Vaughn, 21, of Roanoke, was shot Thursday morning.

Police responded to the 1600 block of Hershberger Road and found Vaughn sitting in front of the K&W Restaurant with a gunshot wound to the groin.

Investigators say Vaughn, who works at the restaurant, was shot after a fight took place in the front parking lot. They say a man shot Vaughn.

Police say they're receiving conflicting versions from witnesses of what happened and who was involved. Detectives are investigating the shooting, but no arrests have been made.

Roanoke, VA - One man was taken to the hospital after an early morning shooting in Roanoke.

A police spokesman says officers responded to the K&W Cafeteria on Hershberger Road at about 6:50 a.m. They say that's where they found the male victim with a gunshot wound.
Officers say the man was sitting in front of the restaurant and was able to speak with them before he was transported.
Police are still working to determine where the shooting happened and who was involved.
