Roanoke, VA - This is a big weekend for Halloween parties - giving Roanoke Police a good reason to begin holiday season "saturation patrols".
Using crime analysis, officers have identified certain areas around the city that may benefit from additional security.
One of those areas includes downtown, where there are expected to be nearly a dozen Halloween parties this weekend alone.
Officials say expect the presence to be both visible and low-key.
"We just want to ensure that we have enough people in the areas where all the activities are going to make everybody's stay or shopping endeavor pleasant and enjoyable," said Deputy Chief Tim Jones
The stepped up enforcement will continue through the first week of January.
