Roanoke Gets 'Cop in a Box'
Roanoke, VA - Bedford County Sheriff Mike Brown's "Safe Surfin' Foundation", continues to expand its reach as they hand out the 58th "Cop in a Box" within the past year.
"Cop in a Box" is a complete setup that allows departments to more effectively go after online sexual predators.
Made possible by funding from Moose International, Roanoke City is the latest department to get on board.
Campbell County joined the program earlier this year.
"We've put them out all over the country. From the est coast to the west coast. Basically it's a force multiplier for the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force affiliates. These are departments associated with the actual task force," said Sheriff Brown.
"Cop in a Box" includes all the hardware, software and proven training curriculum.
Each "Cop in a Box" costs $3,500.
