Roanoke College Demolishes Bowman Hall

Salem, VA - The wrecking ball swung into action taking down Bowman Hall on the campus of Roanoke College.

The demolition is the latest in a string of projects that are underway to make way for the state of the art Cregger Center.

Dozens showed up to watch the demolition and for many, the day is bittersweet as good memories cross with the push to upgrade the campus.

Tracy Bourne met her husband in the former dormitory twenty years ago.

"Would he have had we not lived in Bowman Hall? I don't know because we only had one class together over the four years," said Bourne.

The demolition is making way for the 155,000 square foot athletic and academic center that is expected to be completed by the fall of 2016.
