Riverside Runners to Plant Christmas Trees in Lynchburg Garden

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg business found a way to recycle its old Christmas trees and give back to the community at the same time.

The owner of Riverside Runners said they will donate all seven of the store's Atlas Cedars to the Awareness Garden, which honors the memory of people who passed away from cancer.

The owner says his employees will plant the trees at the entrance of the Blackwater Creek Trail as their way of giving back.

"To be able to have these sustainable trees in our store and to be able to contribute back to the Awareness Garden that has given so much and inspired so many, is a way for us that really captures what the holiday season is all about," said Jeff Fedorko, owner of Riverside Runners.

The store hopes to plant the trees in early January.

Friday's giveaway was part of Lowe's "Heroes" program focusing on fire safety in December.
