Region 2000 Breakfast Highlights Economic Growth

Lynchburg, VA - Leaders in Central Virginia say our area is still slowly coming out of the economic downturn.

Tuesday morning, Virginia's Region 2000 Partnership held its annual report breakfast.

Dr. Fletcher Mangum of Mangum Economic Consulting says Region 2000 entered the recession later than the rest of the country, anchored by its strong professional and technical fields and health care services.

Bryan David with Region 2000 says the future is looking good.

"Now that recovery is coming it is a bit sluggish but it is coming. Our unemployment rate is falling and we just say that with the latest numbers coming out. I think we are at 5.6%," said David.

The breakfast was held at Wiley and Wilson.
