Red Cross Assisting People Displaced in Roanoke Apartment Fire

Roanoke, VA- The Red Cross is assisting several people after an apartment fire in Roanoke Sunday night.

Crews were called to the 1900 block of Patterson Avenue at about 4:50 p.m. When they got on the scene, they found flames coming from an upstairs window of an apartment building.

Firefighters had the flames under control in about 10 minutes. Eight people were in the building when the fire started. They all made it out safely.

Eight people were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross is assisting a family of six.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage to the building is estimated at about $22,500.
