Lynchburg, VA - The 4th annual Thomas Jefferson Wine Festival at Poplar Forest took place Saturday.
More than 2600 people attended this year, making it their biggest wine festival yet.
Organizers also used this day to launch the new Jefferson Heritage Trail. The trail connects Monticello to Poplar Forest. Along the trail are wineries, restaurants, and other historical attractions.
Organizers say they hope the wine festival encourages people to come back and visit and follow in Jefferson's footsteps.
"Many people in Lynchburg have never heard of Poplar Forest, so we want to encourage people to come and visit Jefferson's retreat and explore it as Jefferson would," said Kelcey Thurman with Poplar Forest.
