Radford Man Enters Plea, Found Guilty of Rape

Radford, VA - Radford man has entered an Alford plea and was found guilty of rape Wednesday.

John Boyd Jr., 47, will spend five years and two months in prison, register as a sex offender and have no contact with the victim.

Prosecutors say back in October, Boyd visited friends in Pulaski and met the victim.

She needed a ride home and says her friends were too drunk to drive, so she accepted Boyd's offer.

The woman started to get out at her apartment when prosecutors say Boyd pulled her back and sexually assaulted her as she tried to get free.

Boyd originally told police he did not have sex with the victim but later said he did, and it was consensual.
