Race Car Engine Catches Fire at New London Drag Strip

New London, VA - The Forest Volunteer Fire Department had to put of a engine fire that the New London Drag Strip Saturday afternoon.

According to Captain Joel Starnes, the call about the car fire came into their fire station around 1:51 p.m.

There were no injuries.

Luckily, Starnes said, the drag strip is only four miles away from the fire department and crews were able to respond and put out the fire within 10 minutes.

Captain Starnes said the fire department had just finished up a 5K Fundraiser when the call came in, allowing for a fast response.
