Puppy Found in Danville Dumpster, Humane Society Offers Reward

Danville, VA - The Danville Area Humane Society is searching for the person responsible for tying a puppy in a plastic bag and throwing it in a dumpster.

Humane Society Director Paulette Dean says around 1:30 p.m. Monday a man walking along Oak Street in Danville noticed a bag moving inside a dumpster.

When he opened it, the four month old pit bull mix ran out.

The dog has been taken to a local vet to be thoroughly examined, but - aside from hair loss and rashes - they believe she will be okay.

The Humane Society is stepping up to make sure whoever committed this crime is brought to justice.

"We are offering a reward of up to one thousand dollars for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible, " Dean said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Danville Area Humane Society at 434-799-5306.
