Propane Farm Not Coming To Roanoke

Roanoke, VA - The Missouri-based company interested in building a propane farm in Roanoke has decided to nix the idea.

Inergy L.P. was eyeing a vacant parcel of land in a Roanoke industrial park that could store nearly a half million gallons of butane and propane.

City leaders received a withdraw letter Monday morning.

Citizen opposition to the plan has been strong. Their primary concern is safety.

There was also concern for what would be built on the site in the future once it was rezoned to heavy industrial.

A public hearing had been scheduled for September 10.
