Professional Surfer Shares Survival Story at Liberty University
Lynchburg, VA - Professional surfer Bethany Hamilton shared her story of survival Wednesday morning at Liberty University.
Hamilton spoke at Wednesday's convocation.
She lost her arm in a shark attack in Hawaii back in 2003, when she was only 13 years old.
Hamilton wrote a book called "Soul Surfer" about the experience, and it was later turned into a movie. She says it was God that really showed her how to continue on.
"I think sometimes when our obstacles are straight up in our faces and sometimes we can't see past them, they are just here blocking our vision so if we just step back and ask God for help, he'll just open our vision and show us the bigger picture," she said.
Hamilton also celebrated another milestone in her life. She got married back in August.
