President Gives Two Area Turkeys Special Treatment
Washington, D.C. - The two presidential turkeys from the Shenandoah Valley have arrived in Washington, staying in the swanky Hotel.
"Cobbler" and "Gobbler" won't have far to go to get to the White House for today's pardoning ceremony - just a block or so.
They'll get there in a truck.
The turkey as a presidential gift dates back to President Harry Truman.
It's not clear exactly when the pardoning began.
We do know President John F. Kennedy sent his turkey back to the farm.
