Lynchburg, VA - It's the end of an era at was originally known as the Presbyterian Children's Orphanage in Lynchburg.
Friday, Presbyterian Homes and Family Services and the Family Alliance closed its last group cottage for children.
The organization has been home to thousands of children since it started in 1903.
A spokesperson says there's been a movement since 2007 to move children into individual homes, and they just weren't getting the referrals needed to keep it open.
They still do offer residential care for adults with intellectual disabilities, as well as a large variety of services for children.
