Politicians Volunteer For Hunger Action Month
Salem, VA - Multiple politicians put their stances aside to work together this morning at Feeding America Southwest Virginia.
Delegates Sam Rasoul, Terry Austin and Greg Habeeb joined Congressmen Bob Goodlatte and Morgan Griffith at the Salem warehouse to volunteer.
The event, the 4th Annual Elected Officials Volunteer Day, kicks off Hunger Action Month.
It's such a big event that Feeding America CEO, Bob Aiken, made the trip from Chicago.
"What's so powerful about today is that it brings all those people together to make an impact on hunger here in Southwest Virginia, raises awareness of the issue and it gives us the ability to go make an impact in peoples lives," said Aiken.
Congressman Goodlatte was honored by the group for his work.
They say he's helped to bring nearly $63 million worth of federal food to our area, since 2003.
