Police: Vinton Armed Robberies Connected

Vinton, VA - Two more armed robberies over the past three days have investigators in Vinton convinced they are looking for the same person.

Investigators said Monday afternoon police were called to a Vinton Pizza, off of Bypass Road after employees said a man entered that store, pulled a black handgun and then robbed the place.

It is the same robbery method and suspect description police are dealing with for a Sunday morning robbery, not far away, at a Subway on Hardy Road.

Investigators say they are confident the two are connected. They also believe there is a good chance the same robber is also responsible for the armed robbery of George's Tobacco shop last Friday, that forced school administration to lock down William Byrd's duel campus for 90 minutes.

Roanoke Police confirm that they did meet with Vinton and Roanoke County investigators Tuesday to compare notes as Roanoke is also dealing with a handful of armed robberies over the past few days.

A Roanoke City Police spokeswoman says it is too early to tell if any, or all, of those crimes are related as well.
