Police Investigating Child Abuse Case After Abduction

Update 11 a.m.:

Halifax Co., VA - A Halifax County toddler is now in the hands of social services after State Police say she was abducted overnight.

They issued an Amber Alert for 1-year-old Alexis Rose Carwile.

Police say she was last seen at a home on Lower Liberty Road in Halifax.

When issuing the alert, police said the girl was with Jennifer Dawn Carwile and Eric Eugene Black.

Police stopped Black on I-95 in Prince George County and he was alone.

Then later, a family member led them to Jennifer Carwile. She was arrested in Prince George's County, Maryland.


Update 7:05 a.m.:

State Police say they've found Alexis Rose Carwile and Jennifer Carwile.


Update 6:45 a.m.:

State Police say they've found Eric Eugene Black and the older model station wagon.

The search continues for Alexis Rose Carwile.


Halifax, VA - Virginia State Police have issued an Amber Alert for an infant girl missing from Halifax.

Authorities are currently trying to locate 1 year old Alexis Rose Carwile.

She is described as black female, 2'6" tall, 20 pounds, with brown eyes, and black hair.

She was last seen at 1076 Lower Liberty Road in Halifax and was wearing an orange shirt, blue jeans, and a pink jacket.

Police believe she is with two adults, 41 year old Eric Eugene Black and 35 year old Jennifer Dawn Carwile.

Black is described as a black male, 5'7" tall, 145 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair.

Jennifer Carwile is described as a white female, 5'5" tall, 170 pounds, with green eyes and red hair.

Police say they're likely traveling in a 1985 brown or tope colored Nissan Station Wagon with license plate number XNJ9177.

They may be headed to the Washington DC area.
