Police ID Man After Shot Fired on Top Motel Roof in Roanoke

UPDATE: 10:44 p.m.----Roanoke, VA - The man Roanoke Police say was armed on top of a motel is now in custody.Spokeman Scott Leamon said 42 year old Sean Michael Lovelace was on the top of the Starlite motel on Melrose Avenue and armed. Leamon said that at least one shot was fired by Lovelace about five minutes after they arrived on the scene around 5:00.They say when Lovelace was taken into custody they did not find a firearm on him, but they did find two on the roof.People in the surrounding areas of the motel were told to stay inside and out of the areaLovelace was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for evaluation. A posession of a firearm by a convicted felon charge is pending. ---------------------------------------------------Roanoke, VA - Roanoke Police are on the scene Wednesday evening after a report of a man with a rifle on top of a building.The initial call came in around 5:00 p.m. The building is on Melrose Avenue and Peters Creek Road. Police spokesperson Scott Leamon says shots were fired, but not by police. No one has been injured.Right now police are trying to locate the armed man.
