Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg police say a 15-year-old was walking home from cheerleading tryouts when a man tried to pull her into the woods.
It happened around 8 p.m. Tuesday on the 2200 block of Yorktown Road, behind the CVS on Langhorne Road.
The victim told police the masked man grabbed her from behind and put a knife to her throat, but she was able to fight him off.
Detectives don't know if it's connected to two other attempted abductions that happened more than a year ago near Lynchburg College, but say there are similarities.
"The victim was approached from behind and grabbed, the victim fought back, and the suspect did not retaliate," Detective Glenn Anderson said.
The victim told police Tuesday night's attacker was wearing a mask over his face, had a deep voice and muscular build.
