Mecklenberg Co., VA - Police say the body that was found in Kerr Lake Reservoir in Mecklenberg County over the weekend fits the description of Kathy Kieling, 57.
Police say it is still too soon to say for sure, but the clothing on the body matches the description of what Keeling was wearing when she was last seen.
The Mecklenberg County Sheriff's Office received a call Saturday evening that a female body had been found in the Buggs Island area of Clarksville.
Investigators notified the Danville Police Department who had been searching for Kieling for more than a week.
Kieling was last seen near a creek by her Bridge Street apartment complex May 31.
The Danville life-saving crew was searching the Dan River for Kieling last week. They found no clues.
Police say if the body is Kieling, it is possible that her remains traveled downstream into Mecklenberg County.
"We did have a lot of rain over the past week and the water levels of the river were pretty high. So, it's very feasible and possible that the body could've gone...someone could've gone in the river here and ended up down there," said Captain Matt Carter of the Danville Police Department.
Police do not suspect foul play.
The body has been sent to a lab to determine the identity.
Police are still following up on leads until the results come back.
