Pittsylvania Co. Supervisors Vote to Close Economic Development Office

Pittsylvania Co., VA - Supervisors in Pittsylvania County bumped heads last night over the elimination of the county's office of economic development.

Supervisor Jerry Hagerman made a motion to eliminate the office as a money-saving measure.

The board voted 4 to 3 on the measure that will lay off Economic Development Director Ken Bowman.

Bowman's wife was one of the three Supervisors to vote against.

Board Chairman Marshall Ecker says the county needs that office now more than ever during these tough economic times.
