Phillip Sims Will Make First UVa Start at Duke

Charlottesville - Alabama transfer Phillip Sims will get his first start at quarterback for UVa this Saturday when the Cavaliers play at Duke.

Head Coach Mike London had said Monday night on his radio show that Sims, if healthy, would start against Duke. Sims had tweaked his knee in the Louisiana Tech game but is ready to go Saturday. The last time someone other than Michael Rocco started at quarterback was the 2010 regular season finale against the Hokies.

Phillip Sims, STARTING QB SATURDAY AT DUKE, said "To be honest, I really haven't had time to think about it. I was told that I was getting the 1 reps yesterday morning and that was maybe 30 or 45 minutes before practice so it was time to go to practice after that. Then after that you're in classes, studying film and stuff. So I really haven't had time to think about getting another start, getting a chance to start this week. Am I excited about the opportunity? Definitely, but as far as really thinking about the situation, I haven't had time to do that."
