Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg is two days away from its next presidential campaign visit. Vice President Joe Biden, along with his wife Dr. Jill Biden and their son Beau, will be at the Lynchburg City Armory Saturday.
The rally could bring nearly 2,000 people downtown.
"Our Saturdays are already pretty hectic and pretty insane because of the market across the street, so I can only imagine how crazy it's going to be," said Taylor Gilpin.
Gilpin is a barista at the White Hart Cafe right across Main Street from the Lynchburg City Armory.
Taylor thinks the rally will bring in lots of coffee drinkers but hopes it won't keep the regulars away.
"I'm sure if people are already here for a campaign rally, and they've already got the spots, customers are just gonna be a crazy time parking."
"I'm anticipating a mess. I don't know what kind of security comes with the vice president, as opposed to the president," said Thorne McCraw.
But next door at McCraw's furniture, McCraw has been on the lookout.
"I saw some men over at the market this morning in coats and ties. That looked pretty suspicious being in the market in those fancy coats and ties."
"We'll be working with Secret Service to provide event and site security," said Capt. Ryan Zuidema.
Zuidema says everything else is a secret.
Ticket holders can get into the armory starting at 2:30 p.m. Saturday. That will give Taylor plenty of time.
"Luckily I only work 10 to 1. So I'll get in and out. So it won't be that bad," she said.
Obama-Biden campaign officials would not say how many tickets are being handed out for the event, but, according to the city occupancy code, the armory can hold just over 1,900 people.
There will be some streets closed in downtown Lynchburg on Saturday. See the complete release from Lynchburg city officials with all the closures.
