Lynchburg, VA- Give a present to a child in need, and get a free chicken sandwich. That's what a couple Chick-fil-As in Lynchburg are offering next month.
Some 155 Chick-fil-A stores nationwide are partnering with Operation Christmas Child to send shoe boxes filled with Christmas gifts to children ages 2 to 14.
Starting November 5, you can pick up a shoe box and a list of items to buy at the Wards Road or River Ridge Mall locations. You can also find the list of items at the Operation Christmas Child website.
You can even choose the gender and age range of the child you would like to send your gifts to. Also, with a $7 donation you can track your shoe box to see where your gifts end up.
Then, return your shoe box full of gifts to those locations on November 12, and you get a coupon for a free Chick-fil-A sandwich. Lynchburg Chick-fil-A Marketing Director Carrie Wright says Operation Christmas Child is hoping to send one million boxes this year.
"These are kids that are all around the world that don't have anything and probably otherwise won't get anything for Christmas. So everything from hygiene items, school supplies, small toys, things you can fill up a shoe box with," said Wright.
Wright says you can use your own shoe box to deliver the gifts, and there are other drop-off points across the city. The coupon promotion is only on November 12, but you can turn in your boxes until the November 25.
