Over 100 Youth Take Part in Livestock Show

Danville, VA-- The Olde Dominion Agricultural Complex in Chatham has been packed all day with lots of kids and livestock.

On Friday they had the 65th Annual Pittsylvania Caswell Junior Livestock Show. Organizers say over 100 young people participated.

Nine-year old participant, Kaylnn Van Der Hyde has been raising her hogs for a couple of months now. She says she has learned a lot while preparing for the livestock show, and it'll be bittersweet when her hogs are sold.

"I like animals really and I like doing this because it's just fun to see how they grow and what they do, just because I plan on being somebody who takes care of animals when I grow up," Van Der Hyde said.

The livestock started at 7 p.m. and admission is free.
