Update: Man Charged in Fatal Car Accident in Rockbridge Co.
Update Tuesday 10:50 a.m.:
Rockbridge Co., VA - Officials have charged the driver they say was responsible for a car accident that killed his passenger on Route 608 in Rockbridge County Monday.
James Blankenship, 21, is charged with DUI, reckless driving and involuntary manslaughter.
His passenger, James Montieth Jr., 48, was killed after Blankenship ran his car off the road causing it to flip into a creek.
Montieth wasn't wearing a seatbelt.
Update 8:55 p.m.:
Rockbridge Co., VA - Virginia State Police officials are currently are investigating a fatal crash that happened Monday at around 1:45 p.m. in Rockbridge County.
Troopers say James Blankenship, 21, of Glasgow was driving a 1997 Jeep Wrangler ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned in a creek.
Passenger James Lee Montieth, 48, of Glasgow, Virginia was not wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Rockbridge Co., VA - Officials say one person has died in a car accident Monday in Rockbridge County.
State police say the accident happened in the afternoon on Route 608.
