Officials Investigate Cause of Fire in Roanoke Co. Building

Roanoke Co., VA - Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a commercial building in Roanoke County Friday morning.

Crews from the Roanoke County Fire & Rescue responded to the 1800 block of Thompson Memorial Drive in Roanoke County at about 12:45 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames showing from two sides of the building.

Crews the Masons Cove, Catawba, Hollins, and Fort Lewis stations worked to control the fire, which took about 90 minutes.

Officials say the fire caused major damage to the building.

One firefighter was transported to a local hospital for heat exhaustion and has been released.

Fire Investigators are currently on scene trying to determine a cause and damage estimates.
