Nine Liberty High Athletes Headed for College Sports
Liberty High School recognized nine student-athletes Tuesday who'll take their talents to the collegiate level.Two of the nine are heading to Ferrum, wrestler Dylan Smith and soccer's Andrea Scruggs. Also from Liberty soccer, Laura Garbarini has chosen Roanoke College, softball's Samantha Baldwin is also going to Roanoke. Two Liberty athletes picked Eastern Mennonite, track's Oksana Kittrell and baseball's Nelson Carroll. Football running back Dustin Hiner will play for the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets, cross country and track's Kennedy Flynn is headed to VMI while Winston Davis will run for Shenandoah.Dustin Hiner, MINUTEMEN RB (HEADED TO R-MACON), said "I chose Randolph-Macon because I love the facility and the coaching staff and the players are all nice."Laura Garbarini, SOCCER STAR HEADED TO ROANOKE, said "I'm recruited as a center-mid but I'm always open to play new positions, so I guess I'll just see when I get there. As long as I'm playing on the field, I'll be happy."
