New Vistas School Helps Students Learn By Gardening

Lynchburg, VA- New Vistas School in Lynchburg is going outside to help its students learn with a new outdoor classroom and learning studio.

The school specializes in teaching students with learning challenges and emotional anxieties.

Students were able to help build and plant the garden, and will now help tend to it. The school has plans for the garden to be an ongoing part of the curriculum. They say they can use teachable lessons from the garden in a variety of subjects from math to poetry.

The garden was made possible by funding from the Lynchburg Area Food Council and the Centra Foundation. Many stores in the community also donated building supplies.
