Campbell Co., VA - There are plans to build a new tower at Lynchburg Regional Airport.
The current tower is more than 50 years old and is obsolete according to airport director Mark Courtney.
Courtney said in a phone interview Monday the new tower will cost about $3 million from design to completion.
Ticket taxes and facility charges paid by airline passengers and federal and state money set aside for airport improvements will pay for it.
Workers could break grown in about a year. The new tower will be located across the parking lot from the existing tower.
