Bedford, VA - Something's brewing on the streets of Bedford. The talk of the town is a new business, one that's just as unique as one of its owners.
The owner of a coffee shop is as young as she looks.
At just 18 years old, Malori Bennett opened Parallel Cafe in December. She's a recent home school graduate.
"They're a little surprised, especially when they find out how old I am. I normally don't tell them unless they ask me and once I saw 18 they're like 'Really?'," said Bennett. "I grew up in the coffee shop businessThis is really a dream and it came really quickly."
The coffee shop shares space in Centertown Bedford with Cao Artisan Chocolates. The small business owners met at the Lynchburg Community Market.
The setup allows them to share expenses, making it possible to roll out new businesses in a difficult economy.
"We've had a really good response from people and businesses around here. They have really enjoyed our products," Bennett said.
