Lynchburg, VA - Point of Honor in Lynchburg is getting a new front gate, and workers were on site Wednesday installing it.
The Garden Club of Virginia designed and donated the new white gate. The organization's restoration committee has worked with Point of Honor for years, and they were the ones who donated the old gate back in the 1980s.
Lynchburg Museum Director Doug Harvey says that gate started deteriorating after 30 years. So they're happy the Garden Club stepped up again--to help showcase Lynchburg's rich history.
"But we're able to show them how Lynchburg has gone from this small river settlement to the city of almost 80,000 people today. And Point of Honor is just a gorgeous part of that history that we can share with visitors," said Harvey.
The design is based on what would have been in used in the early 19th century.
