Lynchburg, VA - Shortly before 6 p.m. Monday, Lynchburg Police found 47-year-old Timothy Vest of Lynchburg unconscious lying on the side of the road. Vest later died at Lynchburg General.
According to Lynchburg Police, Vest died shortly before noon the next day due to a head injury.
Lynchburg's Criminal Investigations Division is investigating. But, at this hour, police are calling it a "suspicious death," not a crime.
Joel Johnson who owns Honda Suzuki just one block away from Monday's incident says he saw Vest lying on the road. Johnson's worked in the area 16 years and says he never saw anything like this happen on Hendricks Avenue.
When Johnson heard something going on down the street, he ran to see what was happening, and remembers three people were around the victim trying to help. Here's what else Johnson saw:
"When I was on my way running down there, I couldn't see that he was breathing. I couldn't see his chest moving or anything like that. And when I got there, I got within ten feet or so I stopped and noticed he was breathing. I could see his chest moving."
Johnson called 911. And last he saw Timothy Vest, officials were putting him in an ambulance.
