New Details Emerge in Cheatham's Preliminary Court Hearing Monday
Madison Heights, VA - Charges against a man accused of killing his estranged wife in Amherst County are headed to a grand jury.
Sylvester Cheatham appeared in court Monday morning for his preliminary hearing.
Cheatham is charged with first degree murder and grand larceny.
In court Monday, the lead investigator spoke about the discovery of Arnita Cheatham's body at the Executive Inn motel in August. He said there was no evidence of a fight in the room.
In court, a recording between Cheatham and Arnita Cheatham was played. On the recording, Cheatham is heard threatening Arnita saying, "I'm going to kill you b-----."
In the conversation the two argue about money. On the recording Arnita asks for the signed divorce papers and says to Cheatham "If you're not calling about divorce papers, don't call at all."
