New Appomattox Civil War Battle App Offers Interactive History Lesson

Appomattox, VA - The Civil War Trust is rolling out its latest Battle Apps for smartphones, and the nonprofit most recently released an Appomattox Battle app.

The free Civil War app has GPS-enabled maps that will allow you to see where Union and Confederate units were located on the battlefield at various key moments.

You can watch videos from true battlefield experts and hear the voices of those who fought at the very places where you are standing.

The app also has detailed background information on Generals Grant and Lee, as well as their armies.

You can also get quick key facts about the battle and a timeline. And when you're done, you can test your knowledge with a short quiz.

The app also has a really cool feature that only works when you're at the battleground. It's called "field glasses," and you use the camera on your phone and point to the horizon. The app will show battlefield landmarks superimposed on the modern landscape, and you can click on them to learn more.

You can download the apps by searching for "Appomattox Battle App" on your Android or iPhone.
